Canadian Journal of Kidney Health and Disease, the official journal of the Canadian Society of Nephrology, is an open access, peer-reviewed online journal that encourages high quality submissions focused on clinical, translational and health services delivery research in the field of chronic kidney disease, dialysis, kidney transplantation and organ donation.

Our mandate is to promote and advocate for kidney health as it impacts national and international communities.

Katherine Barraclough, MBBS (Hons), FRACP, PhD

Guest Editor, Special Collection on Sustainable Nephrology

Dr. Barraclough is an associate professor and nephrologist from Melbourne, Australia, with research interests in the intersection between planetary and human health and environmental sustainability within the healthcare system. She is chair of the Australia New Zealand Society of Nephrology Green Nephrology Special Interest Group and a member of Doctors for the Environment Australia, sitting on both the Victorian State and national biodiversity committees. She strongly believes that health professionals need to more than simply care for those who are ill - they also have a central role to play in ensuring that healthy, stable environments exist so that current and future generations can thrive.

Fiona A. Miller, MA, PhD

Guest Editor, Special Collection on Sustainable Nephrology

Dr. Miller is a professor of health policy in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She holds the chair in Health Management Strategies and is a Connaught Scholar.

Dr. Miller directs the Centre for Sustainable Health Systems at the University of Toronto and a national initiative for climate action and awareness in healthcare: CASCADES. In these roles, she leads and supports efforts to improve the sustainability of health systems through research, education, practice change and policy development.

Dr. Miller completed her MA in the Department of History at the University of Victoria, and her PhD in the Department of History at York University. As a policy scholar, Dr. Miller brings a critical political economy perspective to the analysis of technological innovation and sustainability transitions.

Tasleem Rajan, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Rajan is an internal medicine specialist working at Richmond Hospital. She is currently completing her MPH at Imperial College London. Her dissertation is focused on carbon footprinting in nephrology.

Caroline Stignant, BSc, MD, MHSc, FRCPC

Guest Editor, Special Collection on Sustainable Nephrology

Dr. Stigant completed her nephrology training at the University of Toronto then obtained a Master of Health Science degree in epidemiologic research in CKD as recipient of a Kidney Foundation of Canada fellowship. She is a mother, gardener, and educator who conceived and delivers the undergraduate UBC medicine lecture 'The climate crisis, planetary health, and medical practice - a call to action'. She is physician lead on the Climate Change Steering Committee at Island Health, a co-investigator with UBC Planetary Healthcare Lab to study the environmental impact of kidney therapies, and proud chair of the Sustainable Nephrology Action Planning 'SNAP' Committee of the Canadian Society of Nephrology. An enduring vision is alignment of medical practice with planetary health principles.
